Vision

The visual perception of an individual is what defines vision.  Additionally, it also refers to spirituality in that it could relate to inspirations or perceptions that originate from either a deity or supernatural force.  Most commonly, vision is referred to as eyesight or the interpretation of information by virtue of light reaching the eyes.  The components involved in the vision process are referred to as the vision system.  It allows the individual to assimilate and interpret information from their surrounding environment.

Vision begins to occur when the lens of the eye starts to focus on a particular image or object, and as light enters, it is transferred to a light-sensitive membrane at the rear of the eyeball called the retina.  It is actually considered a part of the brain that serves as a transducer that transfers light into certain types of signals called neuronal signals.  The lens then begins to focus the entering light onto the photoreceptive cells of the retina which detect the light photons and then transforms this into a neural impulse.  Different parts of the brain then begin to interpret these impulses into the complete image by virtue of the primary and secondary visual cortex of the brain.
